Pilla Chain Necklace with Indian Head Eagle and 18K Yellow Gold Connector

This 18k yellow gold necklace features the Pilla collection’s signature medal combined with the elongated links of our signature chain—a striking interplay of shapes. The heart of this creation is an antique “Indian Head” Eagle, a ten-dollar gold coin struck by the United States Mint from 1907 until 1933. Commissioned by Theodore Roosevelt to the sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the obverse features a left-facing bust of Liberty wearing a Native American war bonnet, as per the President’s wish: “I feel very strongly that on at least one coin we ought to have the Indian feather headdress. It is distinctly American, and very picturesque.”
